Dress Code

Kindergarten – Year 6 Dress Policy
  • Bottle Green Hyden Primary School collared t-shirt.
  • Bottle Green fleece jacket or sports jacket – school logo preferred but not essential.
  • Black shorts, skirt, skorts or pants.
  • Bottle Green bucket hat
  • Closed in shoes or sandals. No thongs, slides, ugg boots.

All students must wear a bottle green bucket hat at all times when outside. A ‘No Hat No Play’ policy is in place all year. The purchase and selection of uniform styles and fabrics is the responsibility of the P & C.

Policy:

The School colours are bottle green, white and black. The School uniform is available for purchase from the P & C. The School uniform is compulsory and must be worn at all times. Support and assistance will be provided by the school where there are difficulties complying with school uniform and dress code requirements. Wearing the school uniform creates pride in the school, creates a sense of identity for students and helps to promote a positive image of the school in the community. It also helps students learn the importance of appropriate presentation.

An alternative non logo bearing uniform, similar in style and colour, is available to families and can be purchased from
department stores.

Student School Dress Code Policy
• Plain black pants or leggings
• Plain black skirts/shorts/skorts
• Bottle Green polo t-shirt with white Hyden Primary School embroidery or plain bottle green polo t-shirt.
• Hyden Primary School leaver’s shirt to be endorsed by School Board.
• Bottle green Hyden Primary School microfiber jacket with embroidered logo.
• Polar fleece 1/2 zip bottle green jumper with embroidered logo.
• Bottle green dry and cosy jacket with embroidered logo.
• If wearing plain stockings or tights, a skirt, skort or pants must be worn over the top (does not include leggings).
• Plain black, long sleeve tops are permitted to be worn underneath bottle green tops.
• Footwear must be appropriate for sporting activities. All footwear must be closed and secured to the foot in. accordance with the State Occupational Health and Standards.
• Jewellery: watches, ear sleepers or studs, Medic Alert Bracelets.
• Bottle green Hyden Primary School microfibre surf hat – must be worn all year round when outdoors.
• Faction polo t-shirts (blue or yellow) when requested for Faction Sports Days and during the week only when PE class is undertaken.
• Bottle green and white check dress.
• Optional: Bottle green beanie, gloves and school bag with embroidered logo.

Please Note: All children representing the school at an interschool event, camp and on school photo days will be required to wear a bottle green polo T-shirt with the school logo. All children representing the school at an interschool event, camp etc will be required to wear a bottle green Hyden Primary School microfiber jacket (if
weather permits).


Inappropriate Dress for School
• Denim Clothing is not permitted in WA Public Schools.
• Shirts, jackets, track pants, skirts, shorts with brand names, offensive images or messages.
• Inappropriate footwear e.g. thongs, crocs, work boots etc unless specifically requested by a staff member.
• Jewellery except the appropriate items listed above.
• Hair: all shoulder length hair must be tied up and if dyed must be of a natural colour. Haircuts must be neat.
• Nail Polish: clear nail polish only.
• Inappropriate headwear.

PLEASE REMEMBER TO PLACE YOUR CHILD’S NAME ON ALL UNIFORM ITEMS.

Note: Any additions to uniforms need to be presented to and endorsed by School Board prior to ordering and must comply with the Hyden
Primary School Student Dress Code Policy.

Non-Compliance with the School Dress Code
The principal will:
• arrange for students who do not comply with the dress code and their families to be counselled and their concerns resolved where possible;
• apply only those sanctions prescribed in the School Education Regulations 2000 (reg 36) where all other avenues for achieving compliance are unsuccessful, and provided it can be demonstrated that financial reaons are not a contributing factor to non-compliance;
• not apply suspensions, exculsions, or prevent non-complying students from attending or participating in any school activity where the activity, in the opinion of the principal, is an essential part of the student’s educational program (reg 36; and
• not apply sanctions that might damage later career prospects (such as negative mentions in references or school reports).

Under the School Education Regulations 2000, Regulation 36, if a non-complying student is enrolled in a primary program, sanctions will be limited to the following actions only:
• Preventing the student from any activity in which the student would have been representing the school; or
• Preventing the student from attending or participating in any school activity which, in the opinion of the principal, is not part of the educational program.
